Do I need a referral to come to Physiotherapy?
You can visit with or without a referral and if the injury is the result of an accident I can fill out the appropriate paperwork for ACC. There is a small co-payment charge for ACC consultations and may be a charge for materials, e.g. strapping. All visitors to New Zealand are covered by ACC if they have an accident that causes injury during their stay. If an application for treatment is declined by ACC, patients will be invoiced for the full treatment cost.
What happens when I come to my first appointment?
At the initial appointment I do a thorough assessment, outline treatment options, develop a plan and with you and come up with some goals to achieve. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions about the treatment options and decline those that you are not comfortable with.
What happens if I don’t feel I’m getting better?
I will monitor your progress throughout your treatment and, if it is not as expected for your injury and I feel is necessary, I can refer injuries to x-ray or ultrasound scan, to your GP or to a Specialist. You are also entitled to a second opinion outside the practice.
